Frida's Update August 1st

Dear Pilgrims,

I received a call from Phil Shaw, who along with 6 other Pilgrims are in Biloxi , Mississippi helping with rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. They are working on the home of an older woman and have been gutting the inside, reframing, and have installed 18 windows and completed other various jobs around the home. In the county where Biloxi is located there are still 15,000 homeless families. Of the 15,000 houses that still need to be renovated, only 2,500 are being worked on. The situation is quite daunting and thousands of people are in need of experiencing hope for the future. The team will be sharing with us about Back Bay Mission, the important United Church of Christ ministry in Biloxi , and plans for the coming months.

My message this Sunday is titled, "Which Perspective," with Philippians 3: 17 - 4:1 as our Scripture reading. We'll be celebrating communion at both services, and commissioning our mission team going to the Young Lives camp in New York . The blood mobile will be at Pilgrim from 9:30 - 1:00 on Sunday.

Next Wednesday I begin a six week video-based class based on Phil Yancey's book on prayer. We'll meet in the library from 7:05 - 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

May your day be filled with God's goodness.

In His Grace,

Pastor Matthew Neumann

Tuesday's Update July 29

Dear Pilgrims,

Thank you for a wonderful Sunday of worship and thanksgiving as we gathered on Sunday. Being with the people of God who love the Lord is always a special occasion that we often take for granted. The Lord is always present in a unique manner when His children come together to honor and worship Him.

When we were on vacation earlier this month, we celebrated our 12th anniversary at Pilgrim (the second Sunday in July). I am grateful that the Lord called us to Pilgrim in 1996 and has led our congregation in such marvelous ministries as we are touching so many people with the grace and love of Christ.

This Sunday the Bloodmobile will be at Pilgrim during the morning. You are invited to “give the gift of life” between 9:30 - 1:00.

Please remember in prayer Mildred King, George Wolfe (in Pennsylvania ) and our mission team working in Biloxi , Mississippi .

The Lord is watching over you and is near to your heart.

In His Service,

Pastor Matthew Neumann
